Radnja musicala Guslač na krovu odvija se početkom 20.
stoljeća u carskoj Rusiji, te prati život u maloj židovskoj zajednici u
zabačenom selu Anatevci. Tužna sudbina žitelja Anatevke, kao i ostalih takvih
židovskih naselja u Rusiji tog doba je njihovo protjerivanje s kućnih ognjišta
carskim ukazom. Opća sudbina Anatevke isprepleće se s osobnim pričama njenih
stanovnika, koji se vrlo često nalaze u raskolu između drevne tradicije i duha
suvremenog doba.
Glavni likovi
musicala su mljekar Tevye i njegova žena Golde, koji imaju pet kćeri i
namjeravaju ih dobro udati, uz pomoć bračne posrednice Yente. No, u tome ne
uspijevaju, jer se kćeri bore za pravo da se udaju za odabranike njihovog srca.
Musical obiluje velikim brojem živopisnih likova malih ljudi, duhovitim
dijalozima, te songovima različitih ugođaja, od kojih je kod nas najpoznatiji
If I Were A Rich Man.
The year is 1905 and a Jewish
community in Tsarist Russia is trying to eke out a living in the village of
Anatevka. Tevye is a dairyman who has a personal relationship with God, in whom
he confides all. He strives, very hard, to keep up the traditions of his faith,
race and culture. He has five daughters, itself a problem, but what is more
pressing, is trying to find husbands for them. Yente, the matchmaker, does her
best, but the daughters fight for their right to be happy and marry the men they
truly love. |
