Dancer, Choreographer and Teacher
Born in Paris (France), Kilina Cremona completed her
artistic training in New York with the great masters of contemporary dance: Martha Graham,
Merce Cunningham, Alwin Nikolais, and Viola Farber. John Cage was her "artistic
godfather" during her years in the USA.
She has danced with Merce Cunningham and the Dan Wagoner Dance Company, and also with
David Gordon, Meredith Monk and Twyia Tharp.
She began her teaching career at the Merce Cunningham School (New York), and for five
years was one of only French people accepted as a teacher. She has also Taught dancers at
the Paris Opera (Théatre du Silence), the Cracow Opera (Poland), the Izmir Opera (Turkey)
and the Santiago Opera in Chile, and in France and abroad (Contemporary Dance Theatre -
Paris, Dominique Bagouet Company - Montpellier).
Upon her return to France in 1980, she opened the Kilina Cremona and Roger Méguin Company
in Lyon, and than her own Company, Tangram Dance (with the support of the Ministry of
Culture, the City of Lyon, the Rhônes-Alpes Region and the AFAA).
She has created almost 25 choreographed dance numbers which have been performed throughout
the world (USA, Finland, France, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, Croatia, Poland, Germany,
Turkey, etc...) and in 1990. her Symphonie Solitude was awarded the Prize for
"choreographic composition" at the Bagnolet International Choreographic Meeting.
Her last six pieces (Celui qui appartient au rivage - performed in 1992, Tchi-Tchao
- June 1993, Gatotachka - 1994, Dubravkin Put - June 1994, Snickers Party
- May 1995 and Eloge de la Gourmandise - 1996) have been performed by dancers
from her French company and by Croatian dancers.
