Almira Osmanović baletnu edukaciju započela je u Zagrebu kod prof. Silvije Hercigonje, a usavršavala u Akademijskoj koreografskoj školi "Agripina Vaganova" u Petrogradu kod Ljudmile Safranove, gdje je i diplomirala.
Stalnom članicom Baleta Hrvatskoga narodnog kazališta u Zagrebu postala je 1977. godine, a solisticom 1979. godine. Nakon povratka iz Petrograda, postaje prvakinja Baleta Hrvatskoga narodnog kazališta u Zagrebu, pleše vodeće uloge u svim baletima klasičnog, modernog i nacionalnog repertoara, te stječe titulu nacionalne prvakinje.
U HNK u Zagrebu plesala je glavne uloge u baletima: Labuđe jezero; Romeo i Julija; Giselle; Coppelia; Pepeljuga; Trnoružica; Don Quijote; Raimonda; Gusar; Diana i Acteon, Paquita; Ples kadeta; Serenada; Četiri godišnja doba; Carmen; Bajadera; Trijumf Afrodite; Medea; Opus 43 – Prometej; Pjesme ljubavi i smrti; Posvećenje proljeća; Carmina Krležiana; Kraljevo; Bach suita; Kentaur; Pokus; Balade... koje donosi vjetar....; Dom Bernarda Albe; Johannes Faust Passion; Đavo u selu; Licitarsko srce; Simfonijsko kolo; Čudesni mandarin; Četiri temperamenta; Amadeus monumentum (Requiem); Četiri posljednje pjesme.
Plesala je u opernim predstavama: Nikola Šubić Zrinjski; Knez Igor; Ero s onoga svijeta; Aida; Orfej i Euridika; koreodramskim predstavama: Vila lutaka; Mizantrop; Othello; Anita Berber; Pukovniku nema tko da piše; LP; U potrazi za izgubljenim vremenom; te u dramskim predstavama: Oslobođenje Skoplja, Osman; Macbeth; Sjećanje na Georgiju; Smrt.
Nastupala je u HNK Split, HNK Rijeka, INK Pula, Osijeku, Varaždinu, Čakovcu, Zadru…
Gostovala je u mnogim gradovima, Europe, Amerike i Japana, a bila je i stalni gost u Dusseldorfu (Medea, Bach suita, Giselle; Posvećenje proljeća), Kolnu i Duisburgu, Bernu (Scottish Symphony).
Ostvarila je i nastupe u filmovima, TV dramama i koreodramama: Vila lutaka; Mizantrop; Othello; Anita Berber; Pukovniku nema tko da piše; LP; Osman; Macbeth; Ne zaboravi me (Fergismajniht), Sjećanje na Georgiju, Gesta za Tina.
Osvojila je brojne nagrade: 1982. I Jugoslavensko takmičenje u Novom Sadu - Zlatna plaketa i Grand Prix, Festival baleta Ljubljana - Prva nagrada za umjetničko ostvarenje, Smotra vojvođanskih kazališta u Novom Sadu - Posebna nagrada za lik Anite Berber, IV Međunarodno takmičenje baletnih umjetnika u Osaki 1984. - Jedinstvena nagrada za umjetnički dojam; Nagrada najboljim mladim umjetnicima Sedam sekretara SKOJ-a, odlikovana Redom Danice Hrvatske s likom Marka Marulića, 1995. Nagrada hrvatskoga glumišta za najbolje umjetničko ostvarenje, 1999. Nagrada Ana Roje - Oskar Harmoš za najbolje baletno ostvarenje u sezoni.
Dužnost ravnateljice Baleta HNK u Zagrebu obnašala je od 1994. do 2002. a od 2002. je ravnateljica Baleta HNK u Splitu.

Almira Osmanovic, prima ballerina from 1990 and CNT Split Ballet Artistic director from 2002 received her first ballet education in Zagreb with well renowned ballet pedagogue for children Silvia Hercigonja. As a very talented and prosperous ballet artist she won scholarship for Academy for Choreography and Ballet "Agripina Vaganova" in St.Petersburg where she graduated in the class of famous pedagogue Ludmila Safronova.

In 1979, she became a soloist of Croatian National Ballet in Zagreb and very soon she became a principal dancer. Her repertoire includes all principal roles in classical, contemporary and national ballet titles. From 1990 she is national primaballerina.

Repertoire: Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Coppelia, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Raymonda, Le Corsaire, Diana and Acteon, Paquita, Graduation Ball, Serenade, Devil In The Village, The Gingerbread Heart, Carmen, Four Seasons, Triumph of Aphrodite, Medea, The Songs of Love And Hate, Bach Suite, Ballads Brought By The Wind, Miraculous Mandarin , Johannes Faust Passion and numerous other roles in contemporary works.

She worked with renowned choreographers like: Vaczlav Orlikowsky, Peter Breuer, Milko Sparemblek, Vasco Wellenkamp, Joseph Nagy, etc...

She made guest appearances on many stages in Europe, USA, Japan... She acted as permanent guest in Düsseldorf, Köln, Duisburg and Bern. She won numerous prizes on domestic and international ballet contests - the dearest of all is the Special prize for unique artistic creation won on 4th International Ballet Contest in Osaka, Japan (1984).

From 1994-2002 she was the Artistic Directress of Croatian National Ballet in Zagreb. From 2002 Almira Osmanovic is the Artistic Directress of the Ballet of Croatian National Theatre from Split.

Since then the tradition of classical ballet in Split has been restored in the best possible manner with Les Sylphides, Cadet’s Dance, Nutcracker, Don Quixote currently on the repertoire. The premiere in February 2006 - the first complete Swan Lake by the CNT Split Ballet proved the value of the entire troupe who gave two premiere performances with two fully in-house casts, without a single guest dancer. Lately the company toured abroad with performances of modern repertoire in Israel (Karmiel International Dance Festival), Germany (at the opening of the Pfalzbau Theater in Ludwigshaffen season), Italy (Prato), Spain (Madrid International Dance Festival), Slovenia (Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor), Latvia (Riga - 11th International Baltic Ballet Festival).
